Now I realize that’s far harsher language than I usually use here, but it was the first thing to spring to mind upon seeing this article and I think it drives the point home succinctly and accurately. The second thought was that this budding young journalist and social commentator likely has a fine career ahead of her; and is yet another point on the never ending list of reasons most people should stay far, far away from college. Especially the nation’s “prestigious” universities wherein Leftist indoctrination has reached its most fevered pitch.
What do you call someone who reduces every encounter to the race of the person or persons involved? What do you call someone who sees race first and foremost in people and ascribes racial factors as the key motivation for any action? Of course, we call that person a racist. When Conservatives like Thomas Sowell cite disturbing economic statistics of blacks in America, they, unlike the racist Democrats of decades past, do not attribute those negatives outcomes to some inherent flaw with blacks as a race, as people. Rather, they go beyond and look at the failings of communities and government which have helped foster these horrific situations. Judging by Ms Lam‘s so-called journalism, when she sees a problem it both starts and ends with the color of the person’s skin. Which, quite simply, makes her a racist on par with the likes of David Duke. Congratulations UC Berkley and The Daily Californian.
But what else could be expected in today’s toxic environment. Ms Lam is a precious snowflake who’s perfect just the way she is, so clearly there can’t be anything wrong with her actions. She’s been told over and over again that female “empowerment” is acting like the worst caricature of an immature male and eagerly engaging in every carnal pursuit; which, coincidentally, fits precisely with the basest desires of men so maybe there is something to this whole patriarchy thing. Regardless, there can’t possibly be anything wrong with her throwing herself at a young man for meaningless sex since she’s just doing what her gender studies professors say she needs to do to fight the patriarchy. And there certainly isn’t anything wrong with sneaking away from her friend who had also been “hooking up” with the same young man because it’s “just sex” as Ms Lam has been told since her first health class in middle or even elementary school.
Yet the utter incomprehensibility of her ire is truly astounding. SHE is ignoring his tepid responses, yet somehow he is still the aggressor. SHE repeatedly refers to him as a “fuckboy,” yet he’s the one doing the objectifying and “is a clear example of male privilege.” Is there even a small part of her brain which recognizes the incongruity of these positions? Hopefully there is, and hopefully her vile vapidity is not representative of the youth population at large. Otherwise…
Returning now full circle to the title of this post, this is why we shame. Because when you engage in abhorrent, destructive behaviors society needs to point and criticize; or at least point and laugh. You need to stop doing them and others need to learn from your mistakes and public ridicule to, hopefully, avoid the same pitfalls in the first place. When, for example, you don’t shame someone who engages in rampant sexual activity which we once called slutty, whorish, etc, then you get someone who labels rejections of her aggressive advances white patriarchy. You get someone who rants about being objectified as a stereotypical Asian sex symbol, while engaging in that precise activity. So, here’s a radical thought for all the SJW special snowflakes out there, maybe when people criticize you it has absolutely nothing to do with your socio-ethno-gender-identity and everything to do with your attitudes and actions. Just something you may want to reflect upon.
